CURSE THE BAGGINGS

Bagged my first Munro at the age of one, going up Ben Lawers on my dad's back. Finally went up it again a couple of years ago, though the achievement was celebrated by self and Dr Jon-sans-Lotus in cloud, wind, cold, and a bunch of other hillwalkers. No such problems on Sunday on Ben Vorlich, south of Loch Earn. It really does feel as if you're on top of the world:

Matthew enjoys the view. The Braes of Balquidder are in the background.

Post-glacial landscape south of the summit. Difficult to imagine that it was once covered by forest.

A flash flood in this burn a year ago took out the bridge further down and a chunk of road with it. There's a drop of 20-30 feet in front of Matt, and we figured that where he's standing would have been covered with water. No, he's not having a pee.
